"First Steps" is a concise little book that came out of years of teaching beginners the rudiments of the piano and how to play it.

It does not have pictures to color, or big, numbered notes, or over–simplified melodies to make a point. But it does make its points simply, in order and uncluttered.

"First Steps" is an excellent guide for the serious beginner and, although it is appropriate for all ages, it might be said that being able to read is a prerequisite. Two exercises are included for your review here.
